CAAA Award of Excellence

Application Guidelines

Sponsored by: The Caribbean Association of Adventists in Alberta (CAAA) in trust, from a generous donor.

Purpose: To reward the achievement of excellence of an Alberta post-secondary student who is enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program. This student must demonstrate excellence in their academic achievements, Spiritual walk with God and community service.

Value: $5000.

A recipient may only receive a lifetime maximum of two CAAA Scholarships.

Candidate Eligibility

Residency:  An Alberta resident at least one year prior to the submission of the CAAA scholarship application.

To be considered you must be: An Alberta resident or pursuing studies at an institution in Alberta. You must be registered unconditionally as a full-time student in an undergraduate or professional program at an accredited institution.  These include accredited publicly-funded colleges, technical institutes, universities and private colleges. Applicants are considered on the basis of achieving a minimum GPA of 3.3.

Application: Interested persons may complete a CAAA Award of Excellence application form available online at Application forms must be accompanied by a 750 word essay. This essay should reflect how the applicant meets the three requirements : 3.3 GPA, a growing committed relationship with God and demonstrated passion toward community service, evidenced by their involvement in various community service initiatives.


Proof of acceptance in an undergraduate full time program is also required at the time of application. Proof of acceptance may include: a letter of acceptance from an accredited institution, the student’s timetable showing registration in a full time course of study or proof of payment for eligible full time program.

Reference: Please include three written references from individuals in leadership positions in the community or at church that can speak to the applicants ability to meet the identified requirements.  References must be emailed to CAAA from the referees and not with applicant’s application and essay. Referees must not be related to the applicant and be available to be contacted in assessing the application.

Deadline: Applications must be received no later than July 31, 2019.


Decision: The decision of the CAAA Scholarship Committee and CAAA is final.

Disbursement: Award will be disbursed at the annual CAAA family camp.
