CAAA Scholarship Fund Guidelines
Sponsored by: The Caribbean Association of Adventists in Alberta (CAAA).
Purpose: To reward the outstanding academic achievement of Alberta post-secondary students who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program and are in financial need. These are students who demonstrate the values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and/or contribute to the promotion of Caribbean culture in Alberta.
Value: $500 to $1000 issued as funds are available.
A recipient may only receive a lifetime maximum of two CAAA Scholarships.
Residency: An Alberta resident at least one year prior to the submission of the CAAA scholarship application.
To be considered you must be: An Alberta resident or pursuing studies at an institution in Alberta. You must be registered unconditionally as a full-time student in an undergraduate or professional program at an accredited institution. These include accredited publicly-funded colleges, technical institutes, universities and private colleges. Applicants are considered on the basis of achieving a minimum GPA of 2.4 on a 4.0 scale or High School Average of at least 60 percent, in the previous academic year of a full course load. Students who are registered part time because of a disability or family responsibilities may also be considered.
Application: Interested persons may complete a CAAA scholarship application form available online at www.mycaaa.ca or from any member of the CAAA Executive. Application forms must be accompanied by an essay (500 – 1000 words) explaining why the applicant believes that s/he is deserving of the CAAA scholarship award.
Proof of acceptance in an undergraduate full time program is also required at the time of application. Proof of acceptance may include: a letter of acceptance from an accredited institution, the student’s timetable showing registration in a full time course of study or proof of payment for eligible full time program.
Financial need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need in writing.
Reference: Please include one reference from a community or church leader who knows you well and can speak to your character and achievements. Also include any additional information you think may be helpful in assessing your application.
Deadline: Applications must be received no later than July 15, for studies in the fall semester of that same year.
Decision: The decision of the CAAA Scholarship Committee and CAAA is final.
Disbursement: Award(s) will be disbursed at the annual CAAA family camp.
